After years of rumors and rumblings, we now know when Kingsman 3 will start filming.
The third mainline Kingsman film, and the fourth overall in the Kingsman franchise, is set to begin filming in September 2022. Taron Egerton will reprise his role as Eggsy and the movie will be a sequel to 2014’s Kingsman: The Secret Service and 2017’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
The other film in the series is The King’s Man, a prequel film set decades before the first two movies in the series.
The Best Movies of 2021
In an interview with Comicbook, series producer and director Matthew Vaughn said that the third mainline Kingsman film will wrap up Eggsy’s story. The movie does not yet have a release date.
This isn’t the first we’ve heard of Kingsman 3, but it’s just the official confirmation many fans have been waiting for. In 2018, Fox set an untitled Kingsman movie for a November 2019 release date. While the movie obviously ended up missing that date, Egerton confirmed in 2019 there was already a script for Kingsman 3. Egerton said, “it’s a really neat idea. That plan, at the moment, is that we’d like to do another one, one more time.”
The King’s Man is a prequel set during World War I featuring an entirely new cast of characters. In our King’s Man review, we called the movie “okay”, saying, “the writing is at times laugh out loud funny. But it also often drags, gets confused with its own logic and politics, and struggles to make any clear statements on the things it takes so much time and effort to explore.”
